Nikon NX Studio Review
NX Studio is the latest application software download free Mac from Nikon, combining image viewing and editing functions from ViewNX-i with Capture NX-D into one single program. It supports all Nikon DSLRs, the latest Z II generation of mirrorless cameras and most Coolpix compacts.
Photo Management
The program provides a simple and intelligent workflow for browsing images. It offers a variety of views including thumbnails, location data, metadata, side-by-side comparisons and full screen images.
It includes various display options, a histogram, EXIF and keyword tools that can be moved around or resized to optimise the use of the screen. You can also adjust the filmstrip bar at the bottom of the screen by dragging it, which saves space on the right hand panel.
Performance
NX Studio offers a streamlined and intuitive workflow for handling RAW and compressed photos. The application starts with a Navigation section that enables photos to be accessed from connected Nikon camera and local storage, through to an effective preview window, and an array of editing adjustment tools.
Editing
The image editing side of the software includes a range of features to make it easy to finetune image details such as exposure, white balance, Active D-lighting and noise reduction. It also offers the LCH editing function that lets you finetune lightness, chroma and hue for any color in an image.
The program isn’t quite up to the standard of Adobe Lightroom, but it does have a workflow that appeals to most photographers, and it offers some advanced tools not available in Lightroom. That said, there are a few bugs and shortcomings that will need to be ironed out over time.
